Thrive was thrilled to co-host qathet Social Enterprise Conversations with Inclusion PR and Leni Goggins.
Huge thank you to the incredible wisdom shared by panelists from Persephone Brewing Company, Diversa Collective and Kindred ReBuild.
Here’s some takeaways…
– Brian Smith the three things needed to make social enterprise succeed: a good idea that is needed, people with entrepreneurial mindset and the right capital
– Todd from Kindred ReBuild— the joy felt when a social enterprise can provide the type of work flexibility where people are able to participate and show their strengths
– Lorelei from Diversa Collective imagines a future where people with disabilities can own their jobs… and the term ‘own’ is a deliberate shift towards agency and control
– Leni from InclusionPR talking about how an enterprising non-profits is that way through Board and Leaders willing to try and risk, to ‘fail’ and take the lessons learned to try again
– Kristi Fairholm Mader with Thrive moderated and added in the option of acquiring existing enterprises and transitioning them to social enterprises in response to the question: what business opportunities make a good social enterprise?
And a shout out to Emma Renaerts from Buy Social Canada who shared the newly launched Guide to Social Enterprise and certification process for social enterprises.
