Thrive invests locally, for impact

Thrive Impact Fund is an impact-first, place-based fund that provides flexible, patient financing and wrap-around support to non-profits, co-operatives, and for-profit social enterprises creating social and/or environmental benefit in British Columbia.
Launched in June 2021, we exist to unlock overlooked and under-capitalized investment opportunities—helping enterprises that have faced barriers to accessing capital grow their revenue and impact.
We invest in organizations based in BC (or expanding into BC) that serve diverse communities, create jobs locally, and amplify or unlock other sources of capital through term and bridge loans, flexible mortgages, and revenue-based financing.

Thrive Impact Fund is:

Place Based

We live in British Columbia and love this place. We see that the challenges our communities face are unique, and Thrive Impact Fund provides an opportunity for investors to make a difference across our province.

Impact First

Impact first means financial returns do not come at the expense of social and/or environmental benefit. In our increasingly stressed world, impact-first investments can create both financial and impact returns. For Thrive Impact Fund, impact first is not just a desire to support positive change in the world, it is also a good investment policy.

Women Led

Less than 2% of funds under management are directed by women. 80% of impact organizations are led by women. Thrive is women-led, and is leading how funds and investments are directed.

A Flexible Lender

Thrive’s financing options fill an important gap. Our loans and investments are flexible and, carefully designed to meet the needs of impact-first businesses and organizations where rapid growth is not the primary outcome.

Evergreen

Thrive Impact Fund is designed to exist in perpetuity. Funds invested are loaned out, and upon repayment, are circulated out again, and again, and again. A dollar invested with Thrive may be reinvested up to three times during the initial term period. An evergreen approach helps Thrive stay sustainable well into the future.

Regenerative

The world needs solutions that put people and the environment first. Future growth requires regenerative solutions that benefit people, planet, and communities. Regenerative means we ask difficult questions such as ‘who benefits,’ ‘where do profits go,’ and ‘what impact is our money having on the world’.
